Today I took a good long hike in the hills around the Quinta do Barranco da Estrela, set in the Alentejo region of Portugal.
The nearby eucalyptus plantation scented the morning air, and bees surrounded me all day. At times the trail was completely obscured, and other times it was a wide, empty dirt road. Out and back, it was probably an eight to ten mile hike surrounded by lavender and cork trees with occasional lizards crossing my path.
Now I’m back at the Quinta, listening to the birds and enjoying the jasmine breeze.
It’s a beautiful day.
