A Room with a View

After Yaquina Head I drove to Lincoln City and to the Inn at Spanish Head for the night. This hotel is built right up against the cliffside from the beach – first floor pool, sauna & hottub on the beach level with rooms all the way up to the 9th floor at the top of the cliff, and a restaurant and lounge on the 10th floor.

It’s nuts. No way anyone’d be allowed to build like that these days. And you simply cannot think about earthquakes. Or tidal waves. Or both. You’ll freak out.

But the views are fantastic. The beach is lovely. I took this photo from the balcony of my room. Crazy beautiful. And quite warm, so unlike the usual Oregon coast. And yes, this is the usual crowds of Oregon beachgoers.

And after sunset, the ocean serenades you all night long. I have no idea who those people out on the beach were, but I named them Joe and Penny. Romantic, non?

Happily, there were no earthquakes nor tidal waves.

  1. How so very cool to spend the night there…listening to the ocean. One of my most favorite things to do. But you are right, wouldn’t want to think about tsunamis or perfect waves rolling in. Joe and Penny look a lot like a couple of friends of mine, Fred and Alice. Lovely photos. Lovely post.
